Açaí Bowl

What is Açaí? It’s a Brazilian berry that comes from the Amazon rainforest. It’s seen a surge in popularity recently because it’s a powerful antioxidant but there’s nothing that proves that it helps with weight-loss as most marketers would have you believe.

Note: Make sure you get açaí “sem xarope” as they say in Portuguese, meaning without syrup. Most açaí is crossed with sweet syrups because the berry on its own tastes a bit earthy. To remedy this, I mix the açaí with banana for the perfect healthy and tasty combination. 

Step 1: In mixer, add:

  • ½ banana
  • Frozen açaí
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup of water or (non-dairy) milk.

Mix until it has a smoothie like texture.

Step 2: Poor the mix into a bowl then add on top: 

  • ½ banana chopped
  • Pumpkin seeds or sunflower seeds
  • Coconut flakes
  • Optional: granola
